Flight Paramedic

Working in our Medevac bases in Yellowknife, Inuvik and/or Cambridge Bay on a 4-week in/out rotation. Air transportation to our Medevac base from the closest major airport, crew
housing and vehicle is provided during the rotation. Reporting to the Medevac Base Manager and Director of Medical Operations, the Flight Staff are accountable for the provision of effective patient care during all phases of the transport process and practices in a manner consistent with accepted aero-medical transport principles.

Qualifications:
ACOP Registered EMT-P or equivalent provincial ACP Registration.
Minimum 2 years emergency, acute or critical care experience.
Current CPR, ACLS, ITLS, PALS and/or NALS certifications
The successful candidate must provide the following: Clean criminal background check and vulnerable sector check, clean drivers abstract, pre-employment medical examination and a list of current vaccinations & immunizations.


Specific Responsibilities:
1. Planning patient care following established guidelines and policies.2. Coordination of equipment and staff to safely and effectively transport the patient.

3. Monitoring and managing patient care during all stages of the transport process.

4. Complete and concise patient documentation.

5. Effective communication with all members of the health care team involved in the transport and care of the patient.

6. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.

7. Respects the rights of the patients at all times.

8. Identifies, intervenes, and responds appropriately during crisis situations.

9. Identifies questionable assignments and procedures and seeks guidance as necessary following established lines of communication.

10. Recognises personal strengths and limitations and seeks guidance as required.

11. Attends education opportunities and maintains all necessary certifications.

12. Promotes a harmonious working environment and utilizes appropriate communication techniques during professional interactions.

13. Practises active listening skills, interviewing and problem solving techniques effectively.

14. Maintaining and checking all equipment and ensuring it is in proper working order.

15. Assisting the Medevac Base Manager with administrative duties as required.
