This position is engaged in the practice of emergency medicine that required substantial judgment and knowledge and proficient skills needed to provide safe and therapeutic paramedic care to critical patients. This Flight Paramedic will share the responsibility with the flight nurse to provide care during each mission, accurately assessing and dealing with life-threatening situations. The flight paramedic must abide by state law, St. John?s Life Line Protocol, and hospital policies and procedures. Performs related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications* /Education:/Current certification as a provider in ACLS, PALS, PHTLS or ITLS. Must have or complete NRP and HAZMAT during first year of service. Must have CCEMT-P before hire. /Experience:/Background of active duty in providing ALS care for at least three years with demonstrated above average abilities and skills. Previous air medical experience preferred. /Licensure:/Current EMT-P in State of Missouri. Current EMT-P in State of Arkansas if working in Branson West. /Other Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:/Expected to be capable of performing patient care of critically ill or seriously injured patients, for all age groups. Must possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient?s requirements relative to his or her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed. /Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Requirements:/Must be physically fit and able to lift heavy loads. Work in all climatic conditions of the Southwest Missouri Region, and be exposed to the outdoor elements on a daily basis. Must be able to practice excellent job mechanics in a confined area, be able to deal with stressful situations, make sound and accurate judgments concerning patient care, and adapt to a changing environment with constant interruptions. Weight must be less than 200 pounds, and flight fitness evaluation must be passed yearly. Physical demands are attached plus push, pull, and grip at 50 lbs. plus, pinch up to 20 lbs., kneel, crouch, and crawl occasionally. /Equipment Used:/Cardiac Monitor, Non-Invasive/invasive BP Monitor, Mechanical Ventilator, CO2 Monitor, IABP, Infusion pump, Computer.
