Flight Paramedic

As a member of the Medical Operations team, the Flight Paramedic is accountable for the provision of the highest and most effective patient care possible during all phases of the air transport process and practices, in a manner consistent with accepted aero-medical transport principles.
Positions will be located in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.
Travel to and from Canadian Home Airport to work site – 100% paid by AMS.


Major Function/Responsibilities:
  • Planning patient care following established guidelines and policies.
  • Coordination of equipment and staff to safely and effectively transport the patient.
  • Monitoring and managing patient care during all stages of the transport process.
  • Complete and concise patient documentation.
  • Effective communication with all members of the health care team involved in the transport and care of the patient.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Respects the rights of the patient at all times.
  • Identifies, intervenes, and responds appropriately during crisis situations.
  • Identifies questionable assignments and procedures and seeks guidance as necessary following established lines of communication.
  • Recognizes personal strengths and limitations and seeks guidance as required.
  • Attends educational opportunities and maintains all necessary certifications.
  • Promotes a harmonious working environment and utilizes appropriate communication techniques during professional interactions.
  • Practices active listening skills, interviewing and problem solving techniques effectively.
  • Maintaining and checking all equipment and ensuring it is in proper working order.
  • Assisting the Medevac Base Manager with administrative duties as required.

 Qualifications:
  • Current Licence/Cerification with one or more Canadian Paramedics Governing body
  • Minimum 2 years experience as an ACP or EMT-P with emergency or critical care experience
  • Current CPR, ACLS, ITLS, PALS, NRP, STABLE and CCP-C (for Flight Paramedics)
  • Instructor status in the above mentioned cerifications is an an asset
  • Experience in an air medical environment is an asset
